Across the Nullarbor in an ‘87 Nissan pulsar Q

LOFT 345 presents a photography exhibition showcasing a 10,000km journey across Australia.  Three Australian artists, Sarah Anderson, Gavin Bufton and Meg Hale, departed Melbourne on a 4 week journey to capture and document the diverse Australian landscape.  Driving form Melbourne to Perth in a small Nissan Pulsar Q, the trio crossed the Nullarbor Plain, hugging the coast of the Great Australian Bite and visited some of the countries most beautiful beaches and rugged landscape.

“Across the Nullarbor in an ‘87 Nissan pulsar Q” will showcase work generated from the trio’s road trip including: Short DVD screening (20 min), 5hours of moving image (Meg Hale) mixed live by V.J Trip Fabrik (Germany) accompanied with live to music from William Lovell (Australia).  Photographic prints and digital projection (Sarah Anderson), Photographic prints on canvas plus small-prints photo documentation and slide projections (Gavin Bufton).

ARTISTS BIO
Sarah Anderson is a Melbourne based Photographer.  Her passion for capturing the beauty in development has led her on assignments around the globe including Asia, North America and Europe.  Her work has been featured in books and magazines, included in Fuji ACMP (Australian Commercial and Media Photographers) and exhibited throughout Australia.  Sarah has recently returned to Australia after spending the last two years in British Columbia, Canada photographing mining and the Canadian landscape.

Gavin Bufton, an established industrial designer, is also known for extending his talent as a jeweller, interior designer, artist and photographer. In an age of instant gratification, Gavin aims to restore the intrigue and suspense native to the analogue format with his PHOTOFREESTYLER projects. Devoted to raw photographic art, Gavin relies on the tools at hand—his eye through a camera lens and the camera itself—to capture the image without post manipulation.

Meg Hale is an artist /producer based in Melbourne, Australia. Her practice includes video, print, drawing and sculptural works that investigate notions of beauty in a modern, technology-driven society. She has exhibited and performed extensively in Melbourne’s music and art scene including Next Wave Festival and the Melbourne Fringe Festival.  Meg is currently undertaking curatorial role with the Images Festival in Toronto, Canada.

Wu Tiao Ren, from Guangdong's Haifeng formed in 2003 playing with elements of Chinese Southern folk music. Ren Ke's accordion and the fact that they sing in their Haifeng monther tongue plays a big role in the band making it a unique yet traditional style of Chinese folk music. They've played with such musicians as XiaoHe and ZhuFangQiong.

故事梗概
《黄瓜》是一部三段式结构的电影，通过三道菜讲述三个家庭的故事。下岗工人老陈，不举，不得不忍受老婆偷汉。心有不甘的他天天炒“火爆腰花 ”，用各种秘方治疗，却无济于事，生活仿佛被沉沉的雾霭所笼罩；无业青年小陈，导演专业，终日在家写剧本打游戏，靠女友可可供养。剧本被一次次地否定，却没有影响他的信心，每天做一道菜“宫爆鸡丁”，日子过得有滋有味，直到得悉女友的谋生之道竟是卖淫，终于让他精神崩溃；卖菜农民大陈，和老婆在路边摆摊卖菜谋取生计。大陈一家生活节俭，每天吃卖不出去的剩菜，在城市里默默耕耘，所有希望都放在成绩优良的儿子身上，终于有一天，大陈的哑巴老婆带着儿子去吃“ 鱼香肉丝”。

关于导演
周耀武，1976年生于河南农村，先后学习过绘画、广告和3D动画。曾从事广告设计工作6年，数字短片监制工作1年。数年来以“雨不亭”为笔名在多家报刊杂志以及网络上发表大量电影评论。2005年与朋友组织成立“北京男十忙电影社”。2007年5月，入选首届贾樟柯青年导演训练营。2008 年，凭借《黄瓜》第65届威尼斯电影节国际影评人周单元。

SYNOPSIS
CUCUMBER is a film with three-part structure that tells the stories of three families through three Chinese dishes. Lao Chen is a laid-off worker and suffers from impotence. His wife has a lover. He tries various aphrodisiac hoping for a quick cure. Xiao Chen, an unemployed 25-year-old majoring in acting and directing, stays all day at home writing scripts, imagining making his own films and being famous. His girlfriend Coco works in a night club. With the salary she feeds Xiao Chen and herself. Da Chen, a lame person from the rural area of Henan Province, with his wife, a dumb person, sells vegetables illegally on the roadside in Beijing. Their 10-year-old son Xingxing studies in a Beijing school and their dream is to support him enter a university in Beijing.

DIRECTOR
Zhou Yaowu, born in the rural area of Henan in 1976, worked as a designer for advertising and animation, and as a supervisor on digital film making for seven years. He uses Yu Buting as a pseudonym to publish film reviews on newspapers, internet and in magazines. Co-organized 'Men Busy at Ten Activities' Film Studio in 2005. Joined the the First Jia Zhangke Young Director Training Camp in 2007. His feature debut CUCUMBER has participated in the "International Critics' Week" in Venice International Film Festival.

      乔•罗森博格 (Joe Rosenberg) 四重奏乐队于九月来临中国，近期将在广州、厦门、上海等多个城市展开巡回演出。
　　乔•罗森博格 (Joe Rosenberg) 隶属于出版爵士音乐著称的Black Saint 唱片公司旗下，他虽旅居亚洲多年，却多在巴黎与纽约作巡回演出。身兼萨克斯管、单簧管吹奏家及作曲家，他的音乐变化多端，拥有爵士乐澎湃的爆炸力及奇幻感觉。
